Gardening jobs for June
Summer is here and with the solstice on June 20th marking midsummer, why not take a moment to pause, appreciate your garden and the beauty of nature in this new season. Then, it’s back to work as you take on some of the jobs for June!
Grow cut-and-come-again salad leaves
Growing loose leaf lettuce to ‘cut and come again’ is a really quick and easy way to have a fresh, continual supply of salad leaves from spring to autumn (and even in winter if you grow it undercover!) and is great if you have limited growing space.
Grow an avocado plant from a seed
Germinating an avocado tree in water is a really fun project. The seed is so different to the seeds of a lot of the plants we usually grow and because they are so big, you get a really good view of what happens when an avocado seed germinates.
Growing tomatoes in a grow bag
One of my favourite plants that I like to grow is cherry tomatoes. They are so easy to grow, ripen quicker than normal tomatoes, taste amazingly sweet and are perfect for picking and eating straight off the plant!
